Welcome to IVY: Alexander Martin

Scrolling through Instagram 2 years ago, I came across a longboard page filled with color, joyful people, beautiful looking longboards, and a whole lotta love… “Follow.” As a long time longboarder, and someone who wants to do my best to emit kindness wherever I go, this IVY thing really struck me as something to open my heart to. I quickly found out that the people I found wearing “IVY gear” or riding an “IVY longboard/skateboard” weren’t supporting this brand to look cool or create a niche that only certain people can be a part of. The people supporting this brand, supporting and living the lifestyle of IVY… care. They care about others. To bring the best out of people. To support you in living the life you were destined to thrive in. Loving people so much that all you can do is sit, content with your present self, filled with joy, and wanting to pass that along to someone else. This is why it is an absolute blessing to say hello as IVY’s newest member to the team.

I am beyond excited to be working on the team and being a part of creating an impact in people’s lives through the heart of IVY. Why do I want to work with IVY? Well the IVY community and the IVY team specifically are some of the most genuine, honest, and real people I have ever met. The mission of the brand is driven by a powerful but simple concept of loving, encouraging, and inspiring people. IVY isn’t really about the money, it’s about the people. As
someone who simply wants to share kindness and a genuine heart with others, working with IVY is an incredible way to learn to love other’s in an even greater way. There are a handful of people I look up to and Steve and Corey are two of them. I can’t wait to learn and grow with them as we continue to shape a culture of belonging this year.

With the IVY Adventures happening this year, I am so stoked about how they are going to impact people’s lives and bring individuals together that will inspire each other through the trip. As someone who absolutely loves adventure (I mean who doesn’t), I really hope to attend a few of the trips this year as well as the “Impact” trip to Thailand next January. It is a dream of mine to bring people together from many different backgrounds and ethnicities and to create a community of acceptance and comfortability where people can meet each other exactly where
they are at in their life. A community where you don’t have to put on a mask, or wear certain clothes, or be a certain way to fit in, but rather a community where you can just be you and not worry about what other people perceive of you. Through IVY and its incredible community of honest people, I have experienced what that dream looks like and I so excited to see where working with IVY will take me next on my journey to inspire and love others everywhere I go.
