The short answer is NO.
The long answers is also NO, and I’ll explain why.
The IVY Community doesn’t have a face, it doesn’t have a race, religion or sexuality and it definitely does NOT have an age.
It's open to everyone that is looking for a place of belonging. Our religion is love and our age is timeless.
Whenever we post about one of our upcoming adventures, I always read in the comments of people saying “I’d love to go on one of these trips, but I’m too old for this kinda thing!”
Nothing could be further from the truth.
When we take these adventures, it’s about bringing people together from all backgrounds and sharing a common experience. Living together in such close proximity, even if only for a week, you’ll quickly discover that you will inevitably break down the walls and barriers you’ve been carrying around, that you may even not have known you’ve had, and really start to connect and build lasting bonds with the other people on the trip.
One of my absolute favorite parts of an IVY Adventure is “family dinner.” Everyone chips in on cooking, setting the table and serving the meal. We then all sit around the table together and just talk about the day…you remember, like we did when we were kids.
So many of us these days are so busy with everything that’s going on and find it difficult to find the time to spend real quality time with the ones that we love. And even when we do, our minds tend to be somewhere else, whether that be social media, work or just the ever expanding to-do list that we never seem to make a dent.
IVY Adventures are built to take you out of that rat race and bring you back to what’s really important….relationships.
I turned 40 a couple of weeks ago and most of the people that join these trips are nearly half my age, but when we come together I find that there’s more things we have in common than we do differences. I’ve met some of the most amazing people over the last year through IVY Adventures and they are now people that I truly think of as family.
So if you’ve ever thought about taking one of these adventures either with IVY or even planning your own adventure with a group of close friends, I highly recommend that you do.
And when you do; put down your phone, set your computer aside, crumple up that to-do list, and focus on the people around you, no matter who they are, how old they are, or where they came from.
I’m often reminded of a quote that always comes to mind when I find myself too focused on work and not focused enough on the people around me; “No one on their deathbed ever said ‘I wish I had spent more time at the office.’”
